Surfers Paradise the center of the Gold Coast is Australia’s tourist Mecca of sun sand surf five star hotels and apartments plus the theme parks Movie World, Dreamworld, and Seaword. It is also home to very productive gamefishing grounds with Blue Marlin present on a year round basis. Also present predominantly in the winter months (May-August) are Striped and Black Marlin. During summer (December to March) juvenile Black Marlin are often present in large numbers just off the beach. These fish offer spectacular light tackle fishing (8kg standup) whereas offshore fishing for Blues is definitely medium/heavy (24/37kg) game chair action.
